November Course

Assalamu Alikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh,

Words simply cannot express my awe at the success of the last seminar. Alhamdullilah, our expectations were well-exceeded. May Allah reward us all for our contributions of time, material, and intellect. I thank Allah for this great opportunity to be part of an organization that is solely dedicated to the infinite knowledge of Islam, our way of life. I am certain these feelings of gratitude are shared among us all.

Inshallah Our next class is scheduled for November 21st to the 23rd. Friday evening, November 21st will be dedicated to registration and meeting Sh. Sameh Asal inshaallah. Bio:
Sh. Sameh Asal is a Ph.D. candidate at Al-Azhar University. He obtained his BA from Al-Azhar University in Islamic Studies and English Literature/Translation with a general grade of excellence with honors. He was ranked first among graduates of the English department, faculty of Languages and Translation in 2000. He also obtained his MA in Islamic Studies. The topic of his thesis was Documentation of the Prophetic Sunnah During the First Century of Hijra. Currently, he works as an assistant lecturer at Al-Azhar University. He is also the Imam of the Islamic Center of Raleigh, NC.

Course Objectives:

1. This course is geared to familiarize the students with the definition of the Sunnah and its usage according to scholars specialized in different branches of Islamic knowledge as well as the misconceptions that some people have as a result of the differences in usage.
2. Demonstrate the difference between the words “Sunnah” and “Hadith.”
3. Acquaint the students with the authority of the Sunnah and its importance.
4. Elaborate on the proofs establishing the authority and importance of the Sunnah and a discussion of them.
5. Highlight the role of our beloved Messenger (PBUH) with regard to the Qur’an.
6. Point out the authority of the Sunnah vis-à-vis the Qur’an.
7. Shed light on the preservation of the Sunnah and the means through which this is possible.
8. Refute the claims and misconceptions raised by some of the Western scholars on the authenticity and authority of the Sunnah.
9. Refute the misconceptions raised by the Quranites and others regarding the authority of the Sunnah.
10. Demonstrate the authority of the solitary Hadith.

The Houston Team is working effortlessly to make this happen, but we cannot do it without you, our future scholars. We look forward to seeing each and every one of you as well as the friends and family you will bring along inshaallah. Please know that you represent a brighter future. Know that in this future, you will be recognized as makers of history and the root of this grand academy inshallah.
